Teuton Resources Corp. (“TUO”) (“Teuton”) announces that a seventh property, the “4J’s”, has been added to its roster of Stewart-Eskay Creek region properties to be tested by drilling during the 2004 field season.
Mobilization to the 4J’s property is scheduled to begin after drilling of Teuton’s nearby Tennyson property is complete. Both properties are located near the terminus of the Granduc mining road, some 45 km north of Stewart, British Columbia. The Four J’s property adjoins to the northwest of the Tide property of Rimfire Minerals-Serengeti Resources, and the Tennyson property adjoins to the west.
Trenching in the Main zone on the 4J’s has exposed laminar, fine-grained lead-zincantimony massive sulfide mineralization accompanied by silver-gold values. Petrographic samples from the trenching were examined by geologist Ross Sherlock, Ph.D., who concluded that the mineralization was likely syngenetic (Sedex-VMS), indicating potential for a deposit of significant size and value. The Main zone has not been previously drilled.
The last drilling program on the Tennyson property occurred in 1992, when three holes encountered porphyry copper-gold mineralization near the edge of an icefield. The best of these holes returned a 99.1 metre intercept grading 0.35% copper and 0.35 g/t gold. The 2004 program will test an area of glacial meltback to the northwest of the 1992 holes, interpreted as being closer to the core of the porphyry system (ablation, or meltback of snow and icefields has dramatically accelerated throughout the Stewart region in the past 12 years). Highest grades are typically found in the core zone of these porphyry systems.
The Kerr deposit owned by Seabridge Gold Inc., located about 30 km to the north, is a local example of the type of target being explored for on the Tennyson property. The Kerr deposit has been modeled by Placer Dome as a copper-gold porphyry system with total measured, indicated and inferred resources estimated at 140.8 million tonnes grading 0.75% copper (2.3 billion pounds of copper) and 0.36 grams of gold (1.6 million ounces of gold) per tonne at a 0.40% copper grade cut-off.
Teuton is a dedicated mineral exploration company with a 22 year history in the prolific Stewart region, host to the famous Eskay Creek and Premier mines. In terms of drill programs, Teuton expects to be the most active junior in British Columbia during the 2004 field season. Ongoing grass roots programs over its 215,000 acre large land position are aimed at generating even more quality drill targets for 2005.
